Asayish Thwarts Terrorist Plot Aimed at Undermining Kurdistan Region's Stability

On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Region's Asayish (Security) Agency published the confessions of terrorists, providing specific information about an "ISIS plot" to carry out planned murders of security officers in Kurdistan Region.
As per a statement by Asayish Agency, they acquired intelligence information regarding the presence of terrorist networks associated with Islamic State (ISIS). These networks were reportedly aiming to execute a series of terrorist acts and assassinate high-ranking security officers in the Kurdistan Region.
Asayish stated that those suspected of being associated with these groups were subjected to intensive surveillance and investigation for several days prior to verifying their terrorist intentions to undermine the security and stability of the cities in the Region.
According to the statement, the security forces, following four successful security operations, apprehended 11 terrorists on July 3rd. Among those arrested were the emir of Halabja Governorate and the Sharazur region, as well as the emir in charge of the operation to repatriate ISIS members.
The Asayish Agency verified that "the terrorists admitted, following thorough investigations, to the allegations levelled against them, namely plotting to assassinate high-ranking security officials and carry out acts of terrorism in the cities of the Region."
