According to a statement by Saadi Ahmed Pire, the spokesman for the PUK, the PUK is taking part in the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections with a total of 172 candidates. A leader has been appointed for each constituency: Shalaw Kosrat Rasul in Erbil province, Miran Mohammed in Sulaymaniyah province, Barzan Osman in Halabja province, and Ali Oramari in Duhok province.
Pire told PUKMEDIA: "The establishment of the four constituencies was a significant step taken for the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections. It is in accordance with the tenets of democracy. The election results will be different, and any attempt of electoral manipulation will be effectively prevented."
Pire further stated: "No political party can independently establish a government in the Kurdistan Region. However, we expect that the PUK will experience a surge in votes during this election."
