Iraqi President: On Ashura, We Draw Inspiration from Values of Iraqis' Sacrifices

Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, the President of the Republic of Iraq, emphasised the importance of upholding the country's stability, ensuring the safety of its citizens, and fulfilling their demands.
In a post on the X website, President Rashid commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his family and companions on the day of Ashura. He emphasised that this occasion serves as a reminder of the principles that guide us towards freedom, social justice, the rejection of injustice, and the triumph of truth.
"On this significant day, we draw inspiration from the values of selflessness and sacrifice demonstrated by all Iraqis in their courageous resistance against tyranny and terrorism, all in the pursuit of upholding the honour of our nation and its people," he added, "We also stress the importance of consolidating national unity and operating within the framework of the nation to uphold the stability of the country, ensure the safety of its citizens, and fulfill their demands."
