Sulaymaniyah Receives the Most Voting Cards in Iraq

In just one week, over 32,000 voting cards have been distributed in Iraq, with Sulaymaniyah Province taking the lead as the first in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

According to a statement issued by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), 32,213 voting cards were distributed across all provinces of Iraq between June 29 and July 4, 2024. Sulaymaniyah received the most cards (9,699), and Kirkuk received the fewest (63).

The IHEC reported that 19,197 voting cards were distributed this week throughout the provinces of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Duhok. Sulaymaniyah had the highest card distribution among these provinces, with 9,699, followed by Erbil (5,967) and Duhok (3,531).

Earlier, IHEC Spokeswoman Jumana Ghalai told PUKMEDIA that the Kurdistan Region has 3,789,360 voters. A total of 2,901,080 voters have been registered, excluding those who will vote in special elections.

On June 26, 2024, Dilshad Shihab, the Spokesman for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, stated that the presidency had set October 20, 2024 as the new date for the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections.

The IHEC Spokeswoman stated that they are fully prepared to conduct the elections on the specified date.
