PUK President: PUK Seeks to Enhance Relations With Iran

Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Ali Bagheri, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, and a senior delegation in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting, attended by several members of the Political Bureau, deliberated on the political, economic, and security conditions in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the surrounding region. They emphasised the necessity of cooperation and collaborative efforts to uphold stability and overcome difficulties.

The meeting additionally reiterated the ongoing cooperation and serious engagement between the federal and the Kurdistan Regional governments to address unresolved issues based on the Constitution, with an emphasis on justice and real collaboration. 

President Bafel Jalal Talabani emphasised the significance of amicable relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran, particularly with the PUK, which has a longstanding history. He reiterated the PUK's aspiration to enhance and consolidate relations and cooperation in a manner that benefits both parties and accomplishes lofty objectives.
