PUK President: It Is Unacceptable to Combine Salaries Matter With Political Disputes

Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Patrick Dorrell, the French Ambassador to Iraq, in Sulaymaniyah.
 
The discussion focused on the advancement of diplomatic ties, the electoral process, and the current disputes between Erbil and Baghdad. They emphasised the importance of ongoing negotiations in order to achieve a favourable resolution.

In relation to the parliamentary elections in Kurdistan, President Bafel Jalal Talabani provided an explanation of the obstacles that are created to the process and stated: "The PUK refuses to be a part of an unfair political dispute that involves the sacrifice of people's lives and the questioning of the legal institutions of the Kurdistan Region. We are striving to ensure fair elections and establish a robust and just system of governance."

Regarding the measures implemented by the PUK to address the salaries matter and guarantee a secure livelihood for the citizens, President Bafel stated "It is unacceptable to combine the salaries matter and people's lives with political disputes, and we have consistently opposed such actions, but fortunately, we have achieved success in this particular step. We express our gratitude to our allies for their help and support."
