Russian CG: PUK has Sovereign History

On Monday, June 3, 2024, Saadi Ahmed Pire, Spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), accompanied by Dara Khaylani, a member of the PUK's Leadership Council and head of the PUK's Foreign Relations, paid a visit to the Russian Consulate in Erbil. They were welcomed by Maxim Rubin, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Russia in the Kurdistan Region.
PUK Spokesperson Pire emphasised the significant global and regional influence of Russia and expressed a desire to enhance and advance the level of cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Russia across all areas. In addition, they deliberated on the overall political landscape of the area, with a specific focus on Iraq and the Kurdistan area.
Another part of the meeting involved evaluating the political, military, and economic dynamics at both the regional and international levels, as well as discussing the PUK's perspectives on the future of the region.
Maxim Rubin, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Russia in the Kurdistan Region, emphasised the significant influence and importance of the PUK in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region, as the PUK is a political force with a sovereign stance and history.
"Russia desires political stability, economic advancement, and further advancement in Iraq as a whole and specifically in the Kurdistan Region. We are prepared for all forms of political and economic collaboration," Rubin declared.
