PUK President: Kurdistan Needs Everyone, Our Voices are Louder Together

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), delivered a congratulatory statement on the 49th anniversary of the establishment of the PUK and the 48th anniversary of the new revolution, remembering the numerous courageous martyrs who died for a free and prosperous Kurdistan.

President Bafel's message said:

Proud and struggling PUK supporters...
I extend my heartfelt congratulations on the 49th anniversary of the establishment of the PUK and the 48th anniversary of the birth of the new revolution.  Today, we honour the memory of numerous valiant martyrs and the immense loss of life that occurred. 

We honour all those who valiantly battled for a liberated and prosperous Kurdistan, displaying unwavering determination and unshakable faith during challenging times of conflict. We also pay tribute to the departed leaders and express gratitude for their valuable legacy 
they have bestowed upon us.

Everyone acknowledges that the PUK has experienced numerous challenging phases,  encountered various barriers, made significant sacrifices, and mourned the loss of exceptional leaders and revolutionaries. Nevertheless, it displayed unwavering resilience akin to the steadfastness of mountains, and steadfastly adhered to its lofty principles. It preserved its sovereign and noble history without compromising on private interests. Undoubtedly, the PUK received significant assistance from its devoted and courageous people, who defended the party with their blood and bravery. Hence, the PUK belongs to the people as much as it belongs to us, and we are their servants.

We shall retrospectively examine this illustrious historical period and derive knowledge from it, drawing upon the wisdom of our past and revolutionary leaders. We will utilise this wisdom as a guiding beacon to illuminate our path and as the foundation for our future endeavours. We shall utilise our historical knowledge to benefit the future and, with optimism, strive  towards prosperity. Our goal is to establish a new period characterised by the safeguarding of people's rights, the absence of threats to their lives and stability; prevention of their exploitation in political disputes, and the elimination of any form of discrimination in service provision. We have cultivated extensive relationships that President Mam Jalal had formed with Iraqi parties and at the international level, built on trust. We are consistently coordinating efforts to safeguard the utmost interests and uphold constitutional rights.

We will persist in our previous efforts to address problems and foster greater solidarity among the parties, with the goal of achieving a long-lasting peace in the region that is devoid of unnecessary violence. In Kirkuk, the green fortress of the PUK and the disputed territories, voters demonstrated that the PUK has effectively managed the region and remained loyal to Kirkuk and its proud people. We will forever remember the steadfastness of these resilient people and their unparalleled hospitality, and we reaffirm our commitment to remain loyal and provide exceptional service.

My proud comrades...
We acknowledge that the passing of our leader, President Mam Jalal, has left a significant void in the PUK, the political process in the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq. However, we have made every effort to remain faithful followers of his principles and teachings. Our actions and efforts were solely driven by the objective of safeguarding the lives of the people, defending Kurdistan, and bolstering the PUK. Despite encountering numerous challenges, we persevered and pressed on with the assistance   our steadfast comrades and supporters. Upon observing the formidable power and significance of the PUK and our vibrant rose symbol, our moral compass is gratified by the illustrious history of our political party and the sacrifices made by our martyrs.

On this momentous and sacred day, we reaffirm our unwavering belief in the freedom to engage in political endeavours, the advancement of democracy, and respect for different voices and colours. Our objective is to protect and promote the vibrant and diverse image of Kurdistan while emphasising the growth of harmony and mutual existence. The opportunity for us to collaborate has been available and will continue to be available. We hold utmost respect for all different parties and forces in Kurdistan, and we aspire to channel our disparities towards the fulfilment of our goals. Collaboratively address internal difficulties and thereafter emerge externally with enhanced resolve and fortitude. The collective strength of our unified voices is crucial for the progress and development of Kurdistan. The preservation of our rights is ensured by our collective unity and solidarity, as seen by previous instances where separation has proven to be unproductive. It is imperative that we progress with an expanded and more encompassing vision, prioritising the welfare of people and striving for a promising future for Kurdistan.

Dear and proud relatives of the martyrs...
Our appreciation cannot fully compensate for the sacrifices you have made. Although we may have previously performed a minor task, it will not compare to your immense magnificence. We are forever grateful to you and express our gratitude by shaking your weary hands and kissing your noble heads. You have served as the foundation and guardians of the PUK, and we derive valuable insights on resilience and determination from your example.

The proud PUK supporters…
The Kurdistan Region is approaching a significant election. It is incumbent upon each and every one of us to approach the endeavour with a sense of solidarity and achieve a momentous triumph, so establishing a profound sense of accomplishment for ourselves. You have the power to rectify the direction of governance and combat discrimination through a democratic process, driven by your strong determination. It is crucial to prevent national Interests from being compromised by misguided personal conflicts, ensure that your rights are not infringed upon and that your destiny is not manipulated under the pretext of patriotism and the Kurdish narrative. Demonstrate that the PUK is the sole and genuine protector of Kurdistan's land and the lives of its people, as it embodies the aspirations and resilience of the people throughout challenging times.

Dear women and youth…
You are the vital blood that courses through the veins of the PUK, 
providing us with the vigour to persevere. Working with you and aiming for a better future is a tremendous privilege. The PUK is your home, granting you access to all of its facilities and departments. Demonstrate your capabilities and utilise your skills. We will definitely provide our assistance to you.

May the souls of the martyrs rest in peace. Wishing abundance and success to Kurdistan.
