PUK President: I Have Full Confidence in the Capabilities of My Country's Youth

Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held a meeting with Andrew Plitt, the Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Middle East region of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in Washington.
The meeting, which was attended by Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Head of the Relations Bureau, involved a discussion on the role of youth and their education, development, and training centers. The need for coordination and collaboration amongst these centers was underlined, with the aim of creating a conducive atmosphere for the education of young people and guiding them towards a prosperous future for the Kurdish society.
During the meeting, President Bafel Jalal Talabani emphasized the significance of the youth in the Region, highlighting their role as a valuable national resource, saying: "We seek to empower the youth through a new project, guiding them towards becoming influential contributors to the region's development in the future because I have full confidence in the abilities, experiences, and skills of my country's students and young individuals who are dedicated to creating a better future. We have made a commitment to support them wholeheartedly and provide them with a conducive environment to utilize their talents across various domains."
In order to help accomplish the goals of better serving the youth, President Bafel invited Mr. Plitt to visit the Region with a comprehensive modern project. In doing so, he confirmed all the facilities.
PUK President: Elections are Important Step for Governance Change
Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Phil Gordon, who serves as the Assistant to the United States (U.S.) President Joe Biden and National Security Advisor to the U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
They deliberated on the political and security situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as the matter of elections. President Bafel emphasised the need to conduct timely and fair elections while also highlighting the necessity of eliminating any hindrances to the electoral process.
"It is an important step in the process of implementing governance reforms and fostering the growth of democratic principles in the region," he said.
In reference to the fight against terrorism, President Bafel stated: "The ongoing threat of terrorism necessitates close collaboration among the Peshmerga forces, Iraqi security forces, and the international coalition in order to effectively address the security challenges."
Phil Gordon emphasised the significance of conducting timely, free, and fair elections. He stressed the need to preserve political stability in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and called for all efforts to be directed towards achieving this objective.
PUK President: We Oppose Attempts to Obstruct Elections
Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held a meeting with Brett McGurk, the White House coordinator for Middle East and North African affairs, in Washington.
Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, the Head of the PUK Relations Bureau, was present at the meeting. The discussion revolved around Iraq and the Middle East, with a focus on the importance of political groups and parties working together to ensure peace, deliver services, and foster democratic development in the region.
President Bafel highlighted the situation in the Kurdistan Region and the issue of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and stated: "The elections are a fundamental entitlement for citizens and a crucial foundation of democracy, serving as a significant milestone in the process of rejuvenation and transformation in governance. Hence, we strongly object to any efforts aimed at impeding the conduct of fair elections and jeopardising the integrity of the Kurdistan territory, as well as hindering the progress and advancement of our territory, which we are diligently striving for."
President Bafel commented on the unification of the Peshmerga forces and the endeavours of the international coalition, particularly the United States, to equip and expedite the process: "The endeavours are significant, and we hold them in high regard. We confirm the ongoing military and intelligence collaboration and synchronisation among the Peshmerga forces, Iraqi forces, and the international coalition to combat terrorism and uphold regional stability."
Referring to the steps of the new agreement between Iraq and the United States, President Bafel said that all steps should be within the framework of protecting the highest national interests, and decisions should be for the sake of peace and prosperity in the country.
