Media & Awareness Bureau Receives Russian CG

Maxim Rubin, Consul General of Russia in the Kurdistan Region, and a Consulate delegation paid a visit to the Bureau of Media and Awareness on Friday afternoon, April 19, 2023, where they were greeted by several Bureau members and channel heads.
Russian Consul General Maxim Rubin spoke at the meeting about the history of Kurdish-Russian relations and expressed his country's views on their future development. He stated, "We value these relations, particularly those with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)." The recent visit of PUK leader President Bafel Jalal Talabani was warmly received at the highest political and diplomatic levels."
He added: "The PUK President's visit to Russia was well received in political and media circles. We intend to continue developing these partnerships as part of Russia's overall long-term strategy in this area."
Karwan Anwar, speaking on behalf of the Media Board, emphasised the importance of diplomatic and political relations between the PUK and Russia in general, as well as his appreciation for the consulate's senior delegation's visit. "We are eager to develop these relations, particularly in the academic, university, cultural, and media sectors," he added.
The Russian Consul General then visited the official websites of PUK (PUKMEDIA), DGK Radio, Kurdistani Nwe newspaper, and al-Marsad magazine. He stated: "The media is critical in shaping public opinion, fostering relationships in general, and disseminating information—all of which are important to us."
In a special interview with PUKMEDIA, the Russian Consul General stated, "We are pleased to strengthen our ties with the PUK, other forces, and the Kurdistan Region as a whole." During our visit to the PUK President, we emphasised our relations, and Russia values the PUK President's visit to Russia."
He went on to say, "The PUK is a powerful political, governing, and diplomatic force in the Kurdistan Region. It is critical in driving peace policy and serving as a means of communication to address any difficulties that may arise.
