PUK President's meeting with American delegation
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed David Burger, Deputy Chief of Mission, at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.
Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Head of the Relations Bureau, attended the meeting, which focused on the Kurdistan Region's elections. They emphasised the importance of holding fair elections that meet the demands and promote transformation in the surrounding area.
During the meeting, President Bafel Jalal Talabani reiterated the PUK's commitment to the election schedule established by the Kurdistan Regional Government.
He said, "Any attempts to delay the elections will have detrimental effects on our Region and raise doubts about the legitimacy and competence of the legal and administrative authorities. Hence, it is imperative to make choices that facilitate the development of our experience rather than attempting to postpone it."
President Bafel also added, "We have confidence that this election would enhance the entity of the Kurdistan Region and present a democratic image of our Region to the global community."
