Iraqi President Lauds Iraqi Women’s Sacrifices in Confronting Dictatorship

President Rashid meets a number of women
President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, received representatives of several civil society organisations to mark International Women's Day at Baghdad Palace on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
His Excellency congratulated Iraqi women and wished them continued success and progress in their professional pursuits and family responsibilities. According to the President, it is essential to support women's empowerment, enhance their participation at all levels and in decision-making positions, and ensure equal representation for women.
"The Presidency of the Republic adopted several draft laws empowering women to play an active role in building and progressing Iraq, which have been sent to the House of Representatives for approval," he stated.
President Rashid commended the sacrifices made by Iraqi women in fighting dictatorial regimes and battling terrorist gangs.
Members of the visiting delegation expressed their aspiration to be involved in real and effective ways in politics, culture, and economics and to contribute to comprehensive development. They also expressed gratitude for His Excellency's enthusiasm for supporting Iraqi women and assisting them in gaining their rights and achieving their goals.
