Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Alina Romanowski, United States Ambassador to Iraq, to the Political Bureau's headquarters in Erbil.
Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, the Head of the PUK's Relations Bureau, attended the meeting, where they discussed recent political developments and violations of the Kurdistan Region's and Iraq's sovereignty. The significance of resolving these issues through dialogue and consensus was emphasised, to eliminate any justification for targeting civilians.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated the PUK's position on recent developments, saying: "The PUK is committed to finding a peaceful solution to the problems that have grown to be barriers to the surrounding area's stability." "We are working hard to foster unity and solidarity so that we can face the challenges together and defend our country," he said.
President Bafel addressed recent political developments in Iraq, specifically the election of the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, saying: "We hope that the swift resolution of this matter will improve the efficiency of the legislature and better serve the people."
