The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) condemned the missile attack on Erbil and said: "The PUK maintains that sensitive political and security matters among neighboring nations cannot be resolved independently and without a shared understanding of political and security concerns. Such unilateral actions will only disrupt the regional relations dynamics, ultimately resulting in negative consequences for the Iraqi people."
The PUK's Political Bureau's statement said:
We condemn the attack on Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, and the targeting of civilians. Attacks on populated areas are a serious threat to Iraqi sovereignty and the lives of citizens of the Kurdistan Region, which is a recognized region within the Iraqi state.
The PUK maintains that sensitive political and security matters among neighboring nations cannot be resolved independently and without a shared understanding of political and security concerns. Such unilateral actions will only disrupt the regional relations dynamics, ultimately resulting in negative consequences for the Iraqi people.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs, particularly the family of martyr Peshraw Dizayee, and we hope for a swift recovery for the injured.
The federal government, which functions as a coalition structure and has the backing of all political forces, bears the duty to enhance its endeavors in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens. It must also reaffirm the unity of the Iraqi people and uphold the country's international prestige through concrete actions.
The official institutions of the Kurdistan Region and political parties should assume a more prominent role in addressing unresolved matters and protecting the citizens and interests of the Kurdistan Region in coordination with the Iraqi government.
May the souls of the martyrs rest in peace
May peace and honor be bestowed upon the inhabitants and land of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan.
Political Bureau
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan
