President Rashid welcomes Muhammad al-Tijani in Baghdad
President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, met with the Tunisian Islamic scholar Muhammad al-Tijani on Thursday. The meeting was held at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.
President Rashid emphasized the need to disseminate the tenets of the Islamic faith, which are founded on tolerance, harmony, affection, and the peaceful cohabitation of individuals.
President Rashid asserts that the country has achieved noteworthy advancements in fortifying security and stability, delivering services, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
Furthermore, he addressed the essential role that religious intellectuals assume in countering sectarianism. According to him, they can generate robust social cohesion, as well as peace and security.
"Religious leaders have a crucial role in attaining permanent peace, promoting affection, compassion, and cooperation, enhancing solidarity, and nurturing social cohesion within communities," stated President Rashid.
He further stated: "They advocate for the noble principles of moderation and foster unity among individuals from diverse cultures and religions."
Al-Tijani emphasized the significance of establishing trustful connections among individuals belonging to diverse religious beliefs. In addition, he commended President Rashid for his endeavors to promote reconciliation among different groups and religions, as well as for organizing frequent meetings with religious academics representing various faiths.
