In a letter of congratulations to Kurdish voters in Kirkuk
and throughout the disputed areas, the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union
of Kurdistan (PUK) said: "This victory serves as the most compelling
evidence of the Kurdish struggle, affirming the Kurdish identity and
highlighting the PUK's unwavering support for the Kurdish people."
The PUK Politburo has issued the
following statement:
Greetings, Kurdish people
Dear Kurdish voters in
Kirkuk and all the disputed Kurdish areas,
We extend our
congratulations to the devoted Kurdish voters, particularly the PUK voters, for
their remarkable victory in representing our people and their wholehearted
engagement in the democratic and patriotic fervor that contributed to the
success of the PUK lists, coalitions, and candidates in Kirkuk, Mosul,
Khanaqin, and Khurmatu. This outcome is praiseworthy and serves as the most
compelling evidence of the Kurdish struggle, affirming the Kurdish identity and
highlighting the PUK's unwavering support for the Kurdish people throughout all
stages. PUK will advocate for the rights of Kurdistan in all the disputed areas
through its political efforts and determination.
Congratulations on this victory! Your PUK is the first
force in the disputed areas, especially in Kirkuk, the Quds of Kurdistan.
By relying on your strength
and determination, as well as adhering to President Mam Jalal's directives, we
will establish a proficient provincial council and administration that caters
to the needs of the Kirkuk communities, whose governor will be a Kurd and from
the PUK.
