With 15% of the votes still undecided, the Kirkuk is Our Strength & Will Coalition has five seats in the Kirkuk provincial council. The coalition's
total seat count is expected to be six.
"The
Kirkuk Coalition has secured half of the seats in the Kirkuk provincial
council, with 12 out of 15 seats now determined," a source from the PUK's Elections Bureau told PUKMEDIA.
According
to the most recent data from the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC),
the voter participation rate in Kirkuk was 66%, which included both special and
general voting.
The
chairman of the PUK's Elections Bureau, Rzgar Haji Hama, stated that based on
the voting results, the PUK has a legitimate claim to the position of governor
of Kirkuk.
The
Kirkuk provincial council has 15 seats, one of which is reserved for the Quota
Christian community. The Kirkuk is Our Strength and Will Coalition is the PUK and the Kurdistan Communist Party's coalition.
