The Peshmerga Minister, Shorsh Ismail, resumed his official duties today in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani.
To mark the minister's return, a meeting was held at the ministry's office in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Peshmerga Ministry, the Chief of Staff, the Secretary-General, and several senior officers of the Peshmerga Ministry.
Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, highlighted the importance of putting aside grievances and differences to foster collaborative efforts.
"Differences between political parties are to be expected," he said, "but they should not be manifested internally within the ministry." "It is critical that ministry officers and senior officials work together harmoniously and professionally."
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the significance of reorganizing the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces and implementing the reform process, stating: "We value the coordination and cooperation of our allies, and the reform process must not become sluggish and feeble in the future."
Subsequently, Minister of Peshmerga Shorsh Ismail stressed that he requires the backing of all parties to ensure the smooth operation of ministry affairs devoid of political discord.
"The efforts of the Peshmerga forces and the ministry are sacred, and to carry out our responsibilities more effectively, we must have an understanding among us," he said.
Over a year ago, Minister Shorsh Ismail formally tendered his resignation to the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Council of Ministers. However, his request was denied, requiring him to return to his position as Minister of Peshmerga.
Shorsh Ismail was appointed Minister of Peshmerga Affairs in the KRG's ninth cabinet on July 10, 2019.
