PUK President: We Aim for a Solid National Energy Policy

Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, met with Geoffrey Pyatt, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy.
At the meeting, in the presence of Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Head of the relations Bureau, they discussed energy matters, the economic situation of the Kurdistan Region, and the expansion of trade collaboration between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the US.
During the discussion, President Bafel Jalal Talabani emphasised that the Kurdistan Region is prepared to assist US investors in deploying their resources and contributing to the enhancement of the economic infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region.
President Bafel also stated: "Our objective is to establish a solid national policy for the advancement of the energy industry. This will ensure that our country's wealth in this sector benefits the people, enhances the nation's strength, and promotes development across multiple domains."
PUK President: We Support the Harmonious Coexistence of All Ethnicities
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has met with Martin Mana, President of the Chaldean Society Foundation, in Washington, DC.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the situation in the Kurdistan Region, as well as the cohabitation of all nationalities and communities, emphasising the importance of strengthening the spirit of peace and unity.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani discussed the role and influence of communities in all aspects of society, as well as the importance of sustaining the Kurdistan Region's culture of tolerance and variety.
During the meeting, President Bafel clarified the PUK's viewpoint, stating :We believe in the coexistence of all ethnicities and communities and want them to play an active and influential role in society." He went on to say, "For this purpose, we have made every effort to create a favourable environment for them to represent themselves truly and not be made part of political competitions and disagreements."
PUK President: We Greatly Appreciate the Assistance From the US
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met in Washington with Daniel Shapiro, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Middle East Policy.
During the discussion, which included Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Head of the Relations Bureau, they discussed the security situation as well as challenges to regional security and stability. They highlighted the significance of greater cooperation in sustaining peace and defeating terrorism.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani spoke about the role of the United States of America and coalition forces in the region, saying, "We view the success of the agreement dialogues between the United States and Iraq as very important, and we must work together to confront the threats and dangers of terrorism."
Concerning efforts to unify and strengthen national forces, President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated, "We greatly appreciate the assistance of the United States of America and the international coalition, and we hope that they will continue to be helpful and supportive in the future to achieve this lofty goal and protect regional peace and security."
PUK President: Continued Cooperation is the Main factor in Ensuring Security
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Congressman Mike Quigley in Washington, DC.
The latest situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the Middle East were discussed. President Bafel Jalal Talabani said that conflicts do not serve the interests of any side in the region and all efforts must be directed towards ensuring peace and stability.
On the threat of terrorism, President Bafel said that continued cooperation is the main factor in ensuring peace and security in the region and that it is our collective duty to confront the threats and eradicate terrorism.
He stressed that the success of the talks between Iraq and the US within the framework of preserving the higher interests is very important and we welcome such successes.
*Representative Quigley is a member of the powerful Appropriations Committee, which, among other things, funds the US Department of Defense training and equipping of Peshmerga forces. He served previously on the Intelligence Committee. Rep. Quigley is also a member of the Kurdish-American Congressional Caucus and is a longtime friend of the Kurds. The congressional caucus was founded in 2008 in order to help US national interests and America’s Kurdish friends in Iraq as well as the Kurdish American community in the US.
