President Bafel: PUK Aims to Maintain Stability in Kurdistan and Iraq

PUK President receives a senior military delegation from the UK

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with a senior military delegation from the United Kingdom led by Air Marshal Sammy Sampson, Senior Advisor to the Chief of Defence Staff for the Middle East and North Africa, at the Political Bureau's Headquarters in Erbil.

Aside from the general state of affairs in the country, security and intelligence developments were also discussed in the meeting, which was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiar Mohammed, Secretary General of the Peshmerga Ministry. They emphasized the need for political parties to continue having productive discussions in order to preserve national security and address problems that pose a danger to it.

President Bafel Jalal Talabani informed the guest delegation of political developments and security implications. He stated that the PUK's efforts are in the interest of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq's stability so that it does not become a venue for resolving political disputes.

"We will make every effort to settle the concerns via dialogue and understanding to keep the region peaceful and stable," said President Bafel."

He further stated that the surrounding area is going through a difficult time and that everyone must handle the situation responsibly.
