A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), comprising Saadi Ahmed Pire, the PUK's spokesperson, Mr. Bakr, an advisor to the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) presidency, and Rebaz Birkoti, a member of the PUK's Leadership Council, paid a visit to the Leadership Council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Sulaymaniyah.
They were greeted by Ali Hussein, a member of the Political Bureau and chairman of the KDP Organizing Bureau in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja. Sana Faraidoon Jawanroyi, a member of the KDP Central Committee, was also present to greet them.
"We must strengthen our ties with the KDP and make more efforts to address the current challenges between Erbil and Baghdad," said PUK spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire. "As the PUK, we express our support for any agreement reached between Erbil and Baghdad to resolve the current challenges."
"We consider Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani's visit to the Kurdistan Region to be a positive step, and we hope that the prime minister's visit will open a new door to relations and serve as a reason to resolve the salary and budget issues," he said.
"The PUK and KDP bear the responsibility of addressing the issue of salary delays as soon as possible," he said.
"The current situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq necessitates the strengthening of our relationships in order to effectively address the current challenges," Ali Hussein, a member of the KDP's Political Bureau, said.
"Implementing people's and teachers' and employees' demands in Sulaymaniyah is their right, and we can play a responsible role alongside the PUK," he said.
"The current situation in the Kurdistan Region necessitates meetings between senior officials of the PUK and the KDP, as both parties bear certain responsibilities and will convene when necessary," Hussein explained.
PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani expressed the PUK's intention to embark on a new phase of service to the populace in collaboration with other political entities during the first meeting of the party's Leadership Council following the conclusion of the party's 5th Congress. As an initial measure, President Talabani engaged in a high level of discussion with the KDP in Erbil last week.
