PUK Begins Electoral Campaign

The campaign period for the provincial council elections in Iraq is scheduled to last for 45 days, and during that time, candidates from 134 different political party lists will compete for victory. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), which has 112 candidates running for office, is taking part in the election. The election campaign is scheduled to begin tomorrow, and the PUK has tirelessly made all preparations for this momentous occasion.

The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has granted official approval to the PUK's candidates. These candidates possess a clean criminal record and will actively campaign in the upcoming elections in the provinces of Kirkuk, Saladin, Diyala, Nineveh, and Baghdad.

The Electoral Campaign will continue for 45 days

IHEC issued a statement, of which PUKMEDIA received a copy, stating, "The 45-day campaign period for provincial council elections will begin tomorrow in 15 Iraqi provinces."

The PUK has 112 candidates

For the upcoming provincial council elections in the provinces of Nineveh, Kirkuk, Diyala, Saladin, and Baghdad, the PUK has nominated 112 candidates, all of whom have received the IHEC's approval.

Razgar Haji Hama, the head of the PUK Election Bureau, stated to PUKMEDIA, "All of the PUK's candidates, regardless of whether they are running on an independent list or in the coalition, are sincere, responsible, and have no Ba'athist background."

"We hope that our candidates will be elected and earn the trust of the people so that they can serve as their legitimate representatives and defend the rights of the citizens of the disputed areas," he added.

PUK's numbers are (142، 120، 226، 134، 204)

In the upcoming elections for the Iraqi provincial council, the PUK will compete as both an independent list and as a member of an alliance using the following numbers: 142, 120, 226, 134, and 204. PUK is currently ranked 134th out of 52 candidates in Nineveh province. In the province of Kirkuk, the PUK is ranked number 142 and has a coalition with the Communist Party that includes 30 candidates. In the province of Diyala, the PUK will run with 30 candidates and an independent list with the number 120. In the province of Saladin, the PUK will run with one candidate and an independent list with the number 226.

PUK will participate in the elections in Baghdad

The PUK has a single candidate running for provincial council in Baghdad, candidate 204.

Elections will take place in 15 Iraqi provinces

"According to a statement released by the IHEC, 35,553 voters will cast ballots at 7,166 polling stations for the provincial council elections, which will take place in 15 Iraqi provinces and three provinces in the Kurdistan Region. There will be 134 lists, including 39 coalitions, 29 parties, and 66 independent candidates.

The elections for the Iraqi provincial council are scheduled to take place on December 18, 2023, in 15 provinces, including the disputed areas of Kirkuk, Nineveh, Diyala, and Saladin. The PUK is attempting to demonstrate that the disputed provinces are Kurdish and win the most votes for the Kurds in these areas.
