Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held the first meeting of the Political Bureau at Dabashan today, Thursday.

"Today was significant because it was the first meeting of the Political Bureau following the fifth congress," said PUK spokesman Saadi Ahmed Pire. We went to see some comrades who were unable to attend the fifth congress due to unforeseen circumstances. Visiting the comrades is an essential suggestion of the congress. During our visits, we discussed the activities of this stage of the PUK with Omar Fatah, Saman Garmyani, and Shorsh Ismail. The PUK is part of their lives, both in the mountains and in the city, and in their hidden struggle."

"Unity within the PUK and assembling all the capabilities are crucial for the PUK because we have two significant elections coming up, the Kurdistan parliament and the Iraqi provincial councils," the spokesman said.

In addition, he discussed the first meeting of the Politburo, stating, "The provincial council elections and how the PUK is preparing for these crucial elections were among the most important topics discussed at the meeting, among many others."

"The duties of the Politburo members at the upcoming PUK Politburo sessions will depend on their expertise in various fields. Additionally, a delegation has been chosen to decide how the PUK's headquarters, bureaus, and institutions will work in the near future. The Politburo will be informed of the delegation's findings as well as their work, any modifications that are required at this time, and the overall situation," he added.

Regarding the future task of the PUK in Baghdad, Pire said: "The PUK has always had a presence in Baghdad and has always strived to find solutions to disputes between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region, particularly when those disputes directly affect the lives of citizens and employees."

"It is essential to engage with Baghdad in such a way that we do not hesitate and do not view it as a threat to the Kurdistan Region if the region's employees and retirees receive their salaries via bank cards. "Instead, we must maximize our banking relationships, expand them, and take steps to ensure that everyone has a card, is paid on time, and is safe,” he added.
