Iranian Foreign Minister Congratulates PUK President

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian congratulated President Bafel Jalal Talabani for his re-election as President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Abdollahian said in a message addressed to President Bafel:

I'd like to express my heartfelt congratulations on your election as President of an authentic and classic party like the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan of Iraq. I seize this occasion to underline the Islamic Republic of Iran's desire to enhance cooperation with the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.

I'm hoping that under the guidance of God Almighty, with the internal unity shown during the PUK's 5th Congress and by relying on the principles of the late Jalal Talabani in fostering Iraqi national unity, we will witness more victories for the PUK in support of the development of the Kurdistan Region.
