Qubad Talabani: PUK Must Be the Long-Sought PUK

Qubad Talabani released a message congratulating Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) members and supporters on the conclusion of the 5th Congress of the PUK.

The message from Qubad Talabani read:

In light of the successful culmination of the PUK's 5th Congress, I extend my congratulations to all comrades and supporters of the PUK, as well as the esteemed families of the fallen martyrs and steadfast masses of the PUK.

I congratulate Mr. Kosrat Rasul and Hero Khan (Hero Ibrahim Ahmed), who have been duly named as the PUK's senior symbols by Congress.

I congratulate my brother and friend, President Bafel Jalal Talabani, on his election as President of the PUK by a unanimous vote of all Congress members.

I extend my congratulations to our comrade and brother, Mr. Sheikh Jaafar, who has been elected as the head of the Supreme Council for Protecting Political Interests of the PUK.

I extend my congratulations to all the comrades of the new Leadership Council of the PUK and express my sincere hopes for their successful leadership of the PUK, aligning with the aspirations of its members and the Kurdish people.

I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the former Leadership Council, with whom we navigated a challenging and transformative phase.

I express my gratitude to the people of the Congress and members who demonstrated bravery and confidence in their active involvement in enhancing the by-laws, programs, and reports of the Congress. This further reaffirms the PUK's status as a political party of knowledgeable and perceptive cadres.

The PUK must now become the PUK that its members and the Kurdish people have desired for so long. The PUK must be deserving of the river of blood and tears poured for it. The PUK must once again become the hope and support of the Kurdish people and it must regain the trust of the citizens, just as it once was for the oppressed people of Kurdistan. It must be the PUK that puts politics and governance in Kurdistan and Iraq back on track.

The fifth PUK Congress was productive. It successfully promoted the incorporation of a substantial number of new individuals, particularly young people and women, into decision-making roles. This development has instilled a sense of optimism among the members and cadres of the PUK, as it suggests that heightened engagement and performance in their respective roles could potentially lead to attaining prominent positions within the party's decision-making structure. The congress effectively addressed the concern of neglecting the devoted supporters of the PUK, resulting in a collective decision to prioritize the welfare of all people irrespective of regional, party, or religious affiliations. The effort successfully established a solid framework for PUK policy across regional, national, and global contexts.

Everyone is now watching the PUK's actions following the 5th Congress. As a result, the current PUK leadership faces an increasingly difficult task, necessitating their ability to meet public expectations. I am confident that the PUK, under the leadership of President Bafel Jalal Talabani, will fulfill the aspirations of the Kurdish people effectively following the 5th Congress. I am confident that the PUK will achieve significant results that will lift the spirits of President Mam Jalal and the martyrs, as well as the heads of the martyrs' families, comrades, and PUK members.
