PUK President meets Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad
The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, received the Syrian Ambassador to Iraq, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah, at Mam Jalal's house in Baghdad.
The meeting focused on the growth of long-standing ties between the PUK, the Kurdistan Region, and Syria. It also covered the overall situation in Iraq and the Region, as well as the ongoing efforts to address problems and maintain stability.
Regarding terrorism prevention efforts and sustaining regional stability, President Bafel said: "Expanding military and intelligence coordination is a key element in the success of measures to uphold security and peace and combat terrorist remnants."
Regarding the state of affairs in Syria and recent political events, President Bafel said: "The only way to address the problems and overcome obstacles is through a peaceful resolution and a return to communication and understanding. To accomplish this, we will work together and provide support."
The Syrian ambassador to Iraq responded by highlighting President Mam Jalal's position and involvement in establishing the historical ties between Syria and the Kurdistan Region, saying: "We will remember President Mam Jalal's contributions and honor him in our memories. Of course, we must develop our connections and coordination in the same direction as President Mam Jalal."
