The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which is
confused and afraid of elections as the anniversary of the August 31 betrayal
approaches, is preparing to break the peace in Kirkuk with the help of its
allies. Although the KDP previously stated that it would return to Kirkuk in
dignity and with the Kurdistan flag, the KDP is now unable to reclaim its own
headquarters.
"The KDP only cares about the oil of
Kirkuk and does not care about the people," said the Head of the Kirkuk
Office for Article 140 Implementation.
Kirkuk oil is all that matters to the KDPAccording to Rash Sdiq, the Head of the Kirkuk Office for Article 140 Implementation, who told PUKMEDIA: "the KDP has no plans to return to Kirkuk, and the chaos it is causing in the city is disrupting the peace." What KDP is now doing is playing with fire."
"It appears that the KDP only cares about the oil in Kirkuk and has no concern for the people, as it has always been a source of instability in the city and turmoil for Kirkuk's inhabitants," he added.
The KDP causes havoc in Kirkuk.Fear of the elections and the anniversary of the betrayal on August 31 has driven the KDP to plot in Kirkuk, but it is also fighting for positions in Baghdad and Mosul, putting aside its Kurdish identity for narrow party goals.
"To hide the August 31 betrayal and keep the people busy, the KDP has started chaos in Kirkuk, as is their habit," Sabah Habib, a member of the Iraqi parliament from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction in Kirkuk, told PUKMEDIA.
"The KDP intends to draw attention in this manner despite the fact that it is well aware that it will not receive any votes in the Iraqi provincial council elections in Kirkuk," he added.
"The KDP is competing for positions in Baghdad and Mosul while causing instability in Kirkuk," Habib continued, "but just as the PUK has never abandoned the Kirkuki people in the past, we will foil the traitors' plot and prevent disturbing Kirkuk's stability this time."
The KDP wants to cover up the August 31 betrayalThe PUK's second headquarters in Kirkuk issued a statement, a copy of which was forwarded to PUKMEDIA, in which it stated: "The KDP has been attempting to conceal the significant betrayal it has perpetrated against the Kurdish people, and under the pretext of recovering their headquarters, they have been causing a lot of disturbance in Kirkuk for several days."
"The protesters who have blocked the main route between Kirkuk and Erbil are KDP allies, some of whom live in Erbil and others who support their political process in Baghdad," according to the statement.
The PUK's second headquarters in Kirkuk also declared at the end of the statement: "This step by the KDP is not surprising to the people of Kirkuk, and they have caused several problems in the past, so this incident, which is taking place now, corresponds with the betrayal of August 31, to erase this bitter history they brought it upon our nation."
The PUK has consistently supported and defended the Kirkuki people's rights, worked to foster coexistence among the communities there, and has never abandoned Kirkuk in difficult times.
The KDP and its allies are currently attempting to create unrest in Kirkuk. However, the PUK is actively obstructing these efforts, as the PUK views the maintenance of peace in Kirkuk as a non-negotiable principle. Historical events have demonstrated that the relationship between the PUK and Kirkuk is comparable to that of inseparable twins.
