The deadline for uniting the Peshmerga forces is coming to an end, and after five years, only one-third of the points of the agreement between the Kurdistan Region and the Global Coalition have been implemented. Brigadier Jabar Yawar says: "The 36-point project of the coalition and the Kurdistan Region to unite the Peshmerga forces has not been implemented, and the coalition has been supporting the Peshmerga in connection with the implementation of this agreement."
Brigadier Jabar Yawar Manda, a military and security expert, stated during a television program, "The coalition has always supported the Peshmerga forces, particularly in the issue of unification and reform of the Peshmerga forces. 2009 saw the completion of the final reform of the Peshmerga forces, thanks to President Mam Jalal's efforts. There were two Peshmerga ministries at the time, in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, and the United States had advisors in both. Twelve Peshmerga brigades were merged prior to the war against ISIS."
One-third of the Peshmerga reunification project has been implemented
Yawar continued, "In 2018, the coalition launched the five-year project to unite the Peshmerga forces, and this is the final year of implementation of the 36-point project to unite the Peshmerga forces." One-third of the Peshmerga forces have yet to be deployed. If this process is not implemented, material and spiritual support for the coalition will cease."
"Unfortunately, the coalition is also a reason for the conflicts of the Peshmerga forces, which called for the replacement of the old staff of the brigades, and the new staff are another reason for the conflict because of their lack of experience," he added.
"Unfortunately, the party conflict entered the Peshmerga Ministry, which is another main reason for the problems," he said.
