PUK, KDP Meet in Erbil

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) met on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the KDP Political Bureau office in Pirmam, Erbil, in the presence of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
Salar Lala Sarhad, head of the PUK's Kurdistan Relations Board and a member of the PUK delegation, told PUKMEDIA that the high-level discussion in Pirmam is a continuation of earlier talks between the two parties and is intended to normalize relations.
According to Lala Sarhad, the meeting will involve the elections, the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, and the Region's relations with Baghdad.
The two senior delegations of the PUK and the KDP met on June 25, 2023, at the PUK's Political Bureau office in Erbil to review the situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as the future difficulties confronting the Kurds. Another topic of discussion at the meeting was developing a solution program for existing challenges, including a review of and strengthening relations between the PUK and the KDP.
