Rewaz Faeq Bids Farewell to Kurdistan Parliament

Dr. Rewaz Faeq, Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, visited the departments of the Kurdistan Parliament and said her final goodbyes to the parliament's employees and personnel on the occasion of the conclusion of the parliament's fifth term.
The Iraqi Federal Supreme Court declared on May 30, 2023, that the extension of the term of the Kurdistan Parliament is unconstitutional, and that the decisions made during the extension are invalid.
It further stated that the Kurdistan Region is a federal entity with the right to alter federal legislation and that parliamentary terms are limited to four years, and therefore extending the term of the Kurdistan Parliament is a violation of the constitution.
Kurdistan's parliamentary elections were held on September 30, 2018, with 29 lists competing.
Dr. Rewaz Faeq, the fifth Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, was born on July 1, 1977, in Kalar, Garmian area, and has a Bachelor of Law, Masters in Private International Law, and Ph.D. in Civil Law. She also has a strong background in Civil Law, Private International Law, and Investment Law.
She served in the fourth term of the Kurdistan Parliament as a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction.
