The faction leader for the Turkmen Front in the Kurdistan Parliament highlighted that agreement among the factions and a compromise between the parties were necessary to address national concerns.
Himdad Salah Bilal, the leader of the Turkmen Front faction in the Kurdistan Parliament, said to PUKMEDIA: "We as the Turkmen Front in the Kurdistan Parliament have been in favor of compromise and consensus on the laws and issues that have a national dimension and points of contention between the parties since the beginning of this parliament term. Therefore, on May 22, during the Kurdistan Parliament session, we abstained from voting to reactivate the electoral commission."
"We weren't prepared to vote on the reactivation of the Independent High Elections Commission because not all factions supported it," he continued.
The Kurdistan Parliament met on May 22, 2023. Dr. Rewaz Faeq, Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, abruptly called the meeting to an end as a result of adding the topic of reactivating the electoral commission for the Kurdistan Region to the agenda without giving all factions a 24-hour notice, which is against the rules of procedure for the parliament.
