Dr. Soran Jamal Tahir, PUK spokesperson.
Dr. Soran Jamal Tahir, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) spokesperson, stated that the PUK is ready for the elections, which should be held on schedule to safeguard the Kurdistan Region's honor and standing.
The goal of the PUK is to hold electionsThe PUK's spokesperson said in a speech to PUK media: "The PUK is ready for the elections, but the elections need a few key concepts, like changing the electoral law and getting the High Electoral Commission back up and running."
"We have been working to change the electoral law of the Kurdistan Region. The people of the Kurdistan Region and political parties support a new electoral law because, during the last five years, the 1992 law has been in use," he explained.
Minorities should have their true representatives"The PUK wants the Kurdistan Region's minorities to have their real voices heard in parliament," he said.
He added: "The election will take place on November 12, 2023, so we have plenty of time."
"With the other side attending a meeting, we can agree on the main points of the elections: " "The bill can then be altered in the Kurdistan parliament within a week or two, subject to political party unanimity and "reactivate the High Electoral Commission ". These points, however, must be agreed on."
To protect the Kurdistan Region's honor and status, all parties must agree and listen to each other's comments and demands," he said. "This will ensure that the elections happen on time and in a democratic way."
