President Bafel's Media Office
Students and name of the Kurdistan Student Association in Kurdish.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), congratulates the students on the 47th anniversary of the establishment of the Kurdistan Students Association.
In a message, President Bafel stated:
I heartily congratulate the Kurdistan students and wish them success on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Students Association.
The PUK is proud of the history of the Kurdistan Students Association's valiant struggle in the new revolution and its ongoing fight for Kurdistan's prosperity, and we value its efforts to build a conscious and freedom-loving society in which students serve as a new force and energy.
Dear students and youth of Kurdistan:
Following the association's past successes and accomplishments during this challenging time in Kurdistan, I promise you that the Kurdistan Student Association will continue its civil and organizational struggle this year with a new and modern strategy, with the aim of serving the educational process and the legitimate rights of students, independent of any party or personal interests.
During the past period, I had the pleasure of having the chance to speak with Kurdish students in-depth on the educational system and higher education in the Kurdistan Region, student rights, and initiatives to promote modern, healthy education and pinpoint issues. We committed to assist and support them at the time, and the renovation of the dormitory departments, the provision of supplies, and the payment of student allowances are incontrovertible proof that we fulfilled our end of the bargain, took on this responsibility, and filled the gap created by the government's negligence. The youth of my country have been the focus of every action we have taken so far and will take in the future.
Our goal for the upcoming work phase and our attempts to make significant reforms to the educational system are crystal clear, and we want to steer this significant sector of the Kurdistan Region in the direction of a higher and more contemporary level. The PUK does not wish to meddle in the field of education; however, it is delighted to support and help with the improvement of education in the Kurdistan Region and the fulfillment of students' rights. Naturally, when we refer to students, we mean all Kurdistan students with a variety of voices and colors, but our working method does not take into account their political affiliation or party affiliation.
The Kurdistan Students Association's long-term objectives include raising the scientific caliber of universities, fostering positive relationships between educators and students, organizing conferences and ongoing coordination between Kurdistan universities and colleges and other international universities and scientific centers, offering services to students, and creating an environment that is conducive to learning. With the help of the beloved and gifted youth of Kurdistan, we will give a new spirit to the education process.
Yours sincerely
Bafel Jalal Talabani
President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan
