The Kurdistan Parliament's Speaker, Dr. Rewaz Fayaq, congratulates the citizens on the approaching of the holy Eid al-Fitr and calls on all political parties in the region to resolve the draining political strife in a spirit of patriotism.
Dr. Rewaz Fayaq's complete statement is as follows:
We send our warmest greetings to every citizen as the holy Eid al-Fitr approaches. We pray to God for our nation's peace and stability, as well as for him to accept the fasting and worship of Muslims.
On this holy Eid, we urge all responsible political parties in the Kurdistan Region to put an end to the draining political conflict in a spirit of patriotism and remember that the protection and advancement of the political system in the Kurdistan Region are in the best interests of the Kurdish nation, which cannot be achieved simply by preaching for peace without taking any concrete steps toward it. Instead, it requires strong political will to avoid the desire to erase the other and compromise on party and personal interests. As a result, we are all held accountable, and God and our nation are keeping an eye on our deeds, behavior, and attitudes.
On this occasion, in order to provide Kurds with a sense of security, revitalize the economy and the labor force, and foster a supportive atmosphere for wise choices and deeds that will enhance their quality of life and standard of living, I believe it is imperative that all representatives of legitimate, constitutional institutions and powerful politicians refrain from making derogatory remarks and carry out their fair share of obligations to foster a constructive environment.
I also call on us to seize this holy holiday as an opportunity to free those detainees and prisoners who have not committed crimes or whose crimes have assumed a political dimension, in order for their families and relatives to no longer wait and the release of their sons to be a holiday for them to truly uphold the principles of human rights, freedom, and democracy that our people have been fighting for a long time.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Eid once more and hope that everyone lives in peace and harmony.
Dr. Rewaz Fayaq
Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament
