The Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) condemned the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport and stated that it was the result of a pre-planned intelligence and espionage scheme.
The message from the Political Bureau read:
An intelligence and espionage plot executed in advance led to the attack on Sulaymaniyah International Airport, equivalent to sending an occupying force into the Kurdistan Region. Hence, we strongly condemn this attack. We expected the relevant authorities to act, investigate, and shun this crime rather than blindly justifying it, but, as in the past, a self-imposed minority within the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), who have special and secrete connections, have become guides for using the government's institutions in service of other countries' intelligence agencies to undermine the security of the Kurdistan Region and Sulaymaniyah Province.
The PUK has consistently strived to cooperate, coordinate, and establish good relations with other regions of Kurdistan based on preserving national interests. The PUK believes in the unity of the Kurdish people and political parties. As a result, the PUK also denounces any attack on a Kurdistan Region province or region since, in line with our national vision, we hold the entire Kurdistan Region in the highest regard and have made significant contributions and sacrificed many lives for the cause.
Shame on the Kurds' enemies and their associates.
