A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), led by Saadi Ahmad Pira, a PUK Politburo member, visited the Turkish Consulate General in Erbil on behalf of the PUK's President and top officials, who were greeted by Amir Taker, the Deputy Consul General, and several other diplomats.
The delegation included Rebaz Berkoti, the Head of the Green Faction in the Erbil Provincial Council, Dr. Majid Mohammed Amin, Faisal Karim Khan, and Haji Masifi, members of PUK's Leadership Council.
On behalf of President Bafel Jalal Talabani and PUK's leadership, Saadi Ahmad Pira expressed condolences to the Turkish government, parliament, and people during the visit, saying: "Our emotions were all deeply affected by this terrible event. No language has the power to adequately convey the depth of the wound's suffering."
"We understand your grief and suffering," he said. "The PUK and the government are conducting a large aid-collection campaign to help the victims, and we will do all in our ability to lessen some of the sufferings," he added.
"As a matter of national, humanitarian, ethnic, and religious duty, we see it as our responsibility from a standpoint of humanity and neighborliness to assist the victims and the doors of hospitals are open to any coordination and health services from the Kurdistan Region," he continued.
The Turkish Deputy Council General thanked the PUK delegation for their enthusiastic support of the victims and said: "We are delighted to witness the campaigns in the Kurdistan Region in general and Sulaymaniyah in particular. The provision of aid and assistance indicates that the two sides' long-standing compassionate connection continues."
The physical and financial losses the earthquake caused for the Turkish people and government were another point of emphasis for Taker in describing the catastrophe's intensity.
Lastly, in the journal of the funeral for the tragedy victims, Saadi Ahmad Pira delivered the PUK's condolences to the Turkish people, government, and parliament.
