The President of the Republic of Iraq stresses the need to expedite the approval of the budget to provide the requirements for reconstruction in the country.

President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, and discussed the developments of the financial and economic situation in the country.

President Rashid opened the meeting by discussing Iraq's participation in the Davos Conference and his resolve to work for Iraq to play a significant role by enticing businessmen to invest in initiatives that will help the local economy develop, particularly after Iraq witnessed security and economic stability. President Rashid emphasized that supporting the private sector is a national necessity to be a cause in supporting the country.

President Rashid also emphasized the necessity of hastening the approval of the draft budget law in order to guarantee the provision of the necessities for the nation's reconstruction, the continuation of progress, and the development of service and living conditions for citizens in a way that complies with their legal rights to a free and dignified life.

The necessity for adequate changes to address corruption, which stands in the way of the nation's prosperity, was emphasized by the Iraqi President. He also stressed the value of using electronic governance in this situation to lessen financial waste and combat corruption.

The Minister of Finance responded by outlining recent financial events, obstacles to economic growth, and strategies for overcoming such obstacles. She also thanked President Rashid for his support of all efforts to bring about stability in the nation on a variety of levels.
