Cardinal Louis Raphael I Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean and Catholic Churches worldwide as well as Iraq, welcomed Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, the first lady of Iraq, when she visited the Mar Yousef church in Baghdad on Friday, December 23rd.

In celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Iraqi First Lady wishes Iraq and all Christians a happy holiday season and a prosperous and peaceful new year.

"Christians have always had a special place in our hearts. "Coexistence between different nationalities, religions, beliefs, and communities is one of the beautiful characteristics of our country."

Additionally, children received special gifts from the First Lady of Iraq.

Also, Cardinal Louis Sako expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi First Lady for her continued support for Christians.

 He stated: 
“The Iraqi First Lady's visit to their cathedral had made them extremely happy.”

On December 21st, the Iraqi First Lady also visited the village of Harmota in Koya town, east of Erbil- a village inhabited mostly by Christians. She visited the Church in the Harmota village and promised to be their support. She also took a tour around their village to learn about the town's needs and requirements.
