Iraq's Amiri calls on Sadrist Movement, Coordination Framework to have serious dialogue

Iraq 10:52 AM - 2022-08-01

The head of Iraq's Al-Fatah Alliance, Hadi al-Amiri, made a new appeal to the Coordination Framework and the Sadrist Movement while warning that things could get out of control.

“Amid media escalation with statements and counter-statements, which call for mass mobilization, and may get out of control and lead to violence, I repeat my sincere appeal to the brothers in the Sadrist Movement and the brothers in the Coordination Framework to use the logic of reason, wisdom, restraint, patience, and prioritizing the interest of the country and people with serious and constructive dialogue to reach solutions," Amiri said in a statement on Monday.

"Iraqi blood is dear to everyone, and the dear Iraqi people from the seventies of the last century to this day have offered abundant and dear blood," he added.

Amiri's remarks come following protests in Baghdad's Green Zone in recent days, where protestors crashed into the parliament's hall.
