Coordination Framework persists on Sudani's candidacy for the premiership, says Ammar al-Hakim

Head of Iraq's National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, affirmed that the Coordination Framework forces persist on the nomination of Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani for the position of the new prime minister.
"We are persisting on our candidate, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, for the position of the new prime minister," Mr. Ammar al-Hakim said during a TV interview.
"The Coordination Framework today is the largest bloc charged with forming the government, and if the Coordination Framework retracts Sudani's nomination and submits another candidate, other demonstrations may occur to reject that candidate as well," he added.
More than 9 months after the early elections of Iraq, the country has only been able to elect the Parliament Presidency. The political parties have failed to reach an agreement on electing the new president and forming the government.
The Coordination Framework recently named Muhammad Shia al-Sudani as their candidate for the post of prime minister.
However, demonstrations erupted on Wednesday in the capital Baghdad against the nomination of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani for the post of prime minister.
