Iraq's Coordination Framework forms team to negotiate with the political forces

Iraq 10:48 AM - 2022-07-29

Iraq's Coordination Framework announced Thursday night the formation of a negotiating team to dialogue with the political forces regarding the formation of the new federal government.

"The Coordination Framework held a meeting on Thursday as part of its continuing series of meetings and formed a negotiating team to discuss with all political forces regarding the formation of the government and the completion of the constitutional entitlements," the Coordination Framework said in a statement.

"The team will start its dialogue rounds on Friday," it added.

More than 9 months after the early elections of Iraq, the country has only been able to elect the Parliament Presidency. The political parties have failed to reach an agreement on electing the new president and forming the government.

The Coordination Framework recently named Muhammad Shia al-Sudani as their candidate for the post of prime minister.

However, demonstrations erupted on Wednesday in the capital Baghdad against the nomination of Muhammad Shia al-Sudani for the post of prime minister.
