The "Radio Freedom" directed by young Kurdish director Bafl Sarhang is scheduled to be screened on Sunday in Amsterdam's most beautiful cinema.

The young director has already participated in the Cannes festival in France with 'Amin' short film.

His short film Radio Freedom was selected as the best film of the year by the Official Dutch Short Film Council.

Radio Freedom is in competition among the best films in the world and has been supported by the Netherlands.

The short film will also take part in several European festivals, including the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) in Albania which may be a gateway to the Oscars in Hollywood.

According to director Sarhang, the film is the second production of YadMedia Studio based in the Netherlands.

"The events of this film, which is written and directed by myself and a colleague,  is based on a true story that took place in Bosnia in the 1990s during a bloody war. The disasters were very similar to the years of war over my homeland," Sarhang said.

Sarhang began to work on this film in 2018 with his school colleague and friend Ismar Vaizovich who is originally from Bosnia and who fled with his family during the war in their country to find refuge in the Netherlands.

"We went to Bosnia together. The story of the film revolves around destruction and violence and how it has left a negative psychological impact on the Bosnians," Sarhang said.

Sarhang and his friend struggle to find a sponsor to support their work and help them. Their short film Radio Freedom was sponsored by the Netherlands and Bosnia.

"We hope that our film Radio Freedom will participate in this year's Slemani Film Festival."
