An art exhibition displaying archaeological sites was held in the Amedi town of Duhok province.

Artist and teacher Rahel Amedi has always wanted to show and introduce the history of his town through making sculptures of small models of the archaeological sites of Amedi town.

"In 2003, I got the idea of exploring my town and make small sculptures of its archaeological sites," Rahel Amedi told PUKmedia

"I aim to show archaeological sites of Amedi to my people to let them know that these sites belong to our town because many people and students have asked me about the models that I made as they did not know that these were all in their home town," he added.

Rahel's goal is to develop his art more and more to be able to show his works all over Duhok.

Amedi town is one of the most beautiful towns in the Kurdistan Region as it sits entirely on a mountain top. It has many archaeological sites such as the Amedi Citadel, Qubhan School, one of the first Islamic schools in the Kurdistan Region, Sulav Waterfall, and the Bere Sili Park.
