Delta variant delays 'Landless' premiere in Kurdistan Region, Iraq

The outbreak of the Delta-variant of the coronavirus, has delayed the premiere of the Kurdish film 'Landless" at cinemas of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. 

 

The film "Landless" is written and directed by the Kurdish Cinematographer  Touraj Aslani, starring by the famous Kurdish singer Hani Mojtahedy, and produced by MAAD Movie.

 

Famous actors from Turkey, Syria, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region have participated in the movie, and they have roles in the Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and Persian languages ​​with Mojtahedy.

 

The premiere of the film was originally scheduled to take place on July 20 of this year but the out break of Delta variant, the most contagious form of the coronavirus, in the Kurdistan Region has delayed the event to an unknown date.

 

The governments of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were forced to take new regulations in order to control the recent surge of the coronavirus cases and the break of the Delta variant. The new regulations included closing cinema halls and gatherings. 

 

The Kurdistan Region and Iraq have witnessed a huge surge in infections with the coronavirus recently. The Kurdistan Region has registered a record 1,985 cases last Monday.

 

So far the Kurdistan Region has recorded over 208,000 cases with more than 188,700 recoveries and over 4,600 deaths from the virus.

 

As for Iraq, so far the country has recorded over 1,518,800 cases with more than 1,379,000 recoveries and over 18,000 deaths from the virus.
