Khanzad Castle in Erbil

Khanzad Castle is located 22 kilometers east of Erbil on the Erbil-Shaqlawa road between Mount Pirmam and Mount Khanzad. It reaches a height of 40 meters above the ground.
It dates back to the Soran Empire, especially during the reign of Mir Sulaiman Beg and Prince Khanzad.
This castle is built of stone and has two floors and has four circular towers. It was restored in 2007 by the Erbil Archaeological Directorate.
