On Thursday, the Russian Defence Ministry announced that units from Russia's "Centre" force group had captured the city of Beletskoye in Donetsk.

"On 22 July, offensive units of the Centre forces completed the liberation of the city of Beletskoye," the ministry stated, adding: "The city is currently under the control of Russian forces, and operations are underway to locate and clear Ukrainian troops hiding in cellars."

This follows a Wednesday announcement from the ministry confirming the capture of the town of Blagodatne in Zaporizhzhia, south-eastern Ukraine, as well as securing control over the village of Artelne in Kharkiv Oblast, eastern Ukraine.

In a separate statement on Thursday, the ministry reported that it had executed large-scale strikes overnight using precision-guided weapons aimed at infrastructure in the port city of Odesa.

"Overnight, Russian forces continued to carry out mass strikes using air-launched precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles," the Defence Ministry noted. "The strikes against the port of Odesa damaged port infrastructure facilities utilised for unloading and storing military cargo."

The ministry further stated that drones in Odesa had targeted a workshop manufacturing drone components intended for Ukrainian forces, alongside an associated storage warehouse.
