Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, a member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Relations Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received a diplomatic delegation from the Japanese Embassy in Iraq. He bid farewell to Hitoshi Ishizuka, Head of the Consular Office of Japan in Erbil, on the conclusion of his tenure in the Kurdistan Region, wishing him every success in his future role.

He then met with Tomohiro Matsushima and Mayuki Nishimura, officials from the Political Section of the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad. The meeting focused on regional developments and bilateral relations between Japan and Iraq, with particular emphasis on exploring ways to further strengthen cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Japanese companies, especially in the economic and reconstruction sectors.

The discussions also underscored the importance of establishing closer ties and coordination between the cities of Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Halabja. Noting the immense suffering endured by Halabja as a result of chemical weapons, both sides stressed the need for greater international attention to raise global awareness of the city’s victims and to support its continued reconstruction and development.
