Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received the European Union’s Civilian Operations Commander, Stefano Tomat, and his accompanying delegation at Al-Salam Palace on Monday.
The meeting focused on ways to strengthen partnership and cooperation between Iraq and the European Union, particularly in the areas of security coordination, exchange of expertise, strategic consultations, and support for efforts aimed at reinforcing stability.
Against the backdrop of ongoing regional and international security challenges, both sides also reviewed the latest developments and exchanged views on the evolving security landscape.
“The continuation of coordination and cooperation with the EU remains essential,” President Amedi said, reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to building balanced relations with its international partners in ways that strengthen security, promote stability, and help address shared challenges.
Tomat reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to deepening its cooperation with Iraq, saying: “The EU values Iraq’s important role in supporting regional security and stability and remains committed to expanding areas of joint cooperation in service of our mutual interests.”
