Deputy Prime Minister Meets with the Italian Ambassador

Deputy PM and Italian Ambassador meet in Erbil.

Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received Niccolò Fontana, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq. During their meeting, they exchanged views on relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, as well as ways to further develop ties between the Region and Italy.

In the meeting, which took place on Tuesday, and was attended by Tommaso Sansone, the Italian Consul General, Qubad Talabani noted that following the formation of the new Iraqi government, a new opportunity has arisen to strengthen relations between the Region and Baghdad, and to resolve outstanding issues.

In another part of the discussion, relations between the Region and Italy across various fields were addressed. Both sides agreed on the need for greater joint cooperation to strengthen ties, particularly in the sectors of trade, agriculture, and tourism.
