Talabani Meets Trade Minister and Company Registration Officials.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Qubad Talabani, together with the Minister of Trade and Industry, Kamal Muslim, met with Director General Blnd Mohammed, alongside officials and representatives from all departments of the Directorate General of Company Registration.
At the meeting, held on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, participants reviewed the progress of the Directorate’s reform programme. Launched in 2023 in line with a structured plan, the initiative has led to the effective rollout of several key reforms.
Following detailed discussions, it was confirmed that the reforms have significantly shortened the company registration process. What previously took around two months and involved 31 procedures can now be completed electronically within 24 hours. Registration fees have also been reduced to 160,000 Iraqi dinars.
The reforms have created notable opportunities for young people and women, contributing to an increase in company registrations among these groups over the past two years. Talabani highlighted that the creation of a dedicated company registration department marks an important step in attracting investment to the Region and has greatly streamlined the process.
During the meeting, Talabani expressed appreciation to the Minister, the Director General, and all staff for their professional implementation of the reform plan and their commitment to delivering services to citizens without discrimination. He stressed that reforming the company registration system is a key component of the Ninth Cabinet’s programme and plays a clear role in advancing economic development in the Kurdistan Region.
He also reaffirmed his support for the next phase of reforms, particularly the digitisation of all documents and records, and pledged to assist in resolving any challenges the Directorate may face.
To date, the Directorate has registered more than 43,000 companies, including around 15,000 that are currently active and operational.
